Vanderbilt vs. La Salle
Memorial Gym – January 1, 2007
Head Coach Melanie Balcomb
“We played a good team. We played a close game at La Salle last year and they are better this year. They play very smart and make you play their tempo. But we kept them below their normal average.”
“I know it wasn’t pretty to watch but it’s never pretty against smart, hard-working teams.”
“We don’t play a lot of teams that use that much time on offense. They make you play a full 30 seconds and we’re not used to that.”
“We’re 13-1, and I feel like we’ve been getting better one game at a time and we haven’t made a lot of mistakes. Princeton and La Salle have helped prepare us for SEC because they are smart and have exposed our weaknesses. That’s what smart teams do.”
Carla Thomas
“La Salle has a style of play that we’re not used too. Their main focus is to slow it down and we like to run it. We’d play 28 seconds of good defense and bail them out with a foul.”
