Vanderbilt Sports Medicine

Mission Statement
Vanderbilt Sports Medicine is committed to providing the highest quality healthcare and wellness assistance to Vanderbilt Student-Athletes. Utilizing a team approach, Vanderbilt Sports Medicine is able to deliver optimal care in the prevention of injuries, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of our student athletes.  Our goal is to be the gold standard for sports medicine within the intercollegiate athletic setting.

The Commodore Sports Medicine staff consists of 15 Certified Athletic Trainers, 8 Team Physicians, 2 Registered Dietitians, 2 Physical Therapists and a Clinical Psychologist. Our staff provides care to all 16 Vanderbilt teams.

Medical Model
To assure sound, autonomous healthcare, Vanderbilt Athletic Trainers and Team Physicians are employed through Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC). As hospital employees, Vanderbilt Sports Medicine has intimate access to the expansive resources of VUMC. Located 3 blocks away, VUMC is a Level I Trauma Center, and the largest medical center in Tennessee.
