Athletic Training Clinical Immersions

Athletic Training Clinical Immersions
Vanderbilt University offers semester long immersions for athletic training students with the goal of gaining experiences to advance them to the next level of their careers. We provide traditional semester sport assignments and also offer a 10-week summer immersion program that covers a variety of sports during summer workouts.  Our staff supports athletic training students in advancing their knowledge of clinical skill sets and professional development, while providing a great amount of autonomy under the appropriate recommendations of CAATE. We take pride in providing an experience that assists with the development of confidence while preparing students for their future as an athletic trainer.

We request those interested to provide their curriculum’s requirements including semester preference.  Please send a letter of interest, resume, and two letters of recommendation that can provide the best recognition of character and skill set.  Once the requested information is received, top candidates will be contacted for interviews.

Volunteer Students
We offer volunteer internships for students seeking to gain further knowledge of athletic training, sports medicine and intercollegiate athletics.  It is expected that these students have a mature respect of allied healthcare professionals, our student-athletes interests and confidentiality.  Volunteers will be required to complete a background check and will be limited to 20 unpaid hours per week.

Please send applications and inquiries to Sara Melby (sara.melby@vumc.org) and Jordan Pierce (jordan.pierce@vumc.org).
