Soccer hosts Eastern Kentucky on Thursday night

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Vanderbilt soccer closes the nonconference portion of its schedule Thursday evening, hosting Eastern Kentucky at 7 p.m. The match can be seen on SEC Network+.

Thursday’s matchup will be the first of its kind between the programs.

Vanderbilt (4-0-2) registered its fifth shutout of the 2024 campaign Sunday with a 3-0 win over Middle Tennessee. Senior Rachel Deresky posted a career-high five points off two goals and an assist to lift the Dores. Caroline Betts dished two assists, both to Deresky, and tallied her third goal of the year off a pass from Deresky. Vandy has outscored their opponents 15-1 so far this season,

Eastern Kentucky (3-3-1) is coming off a 1-0 victory over Youngstown State on Sunday. Nerea de Diego posted the match’s lone goal despite the Colonels putting up six shots. Ella Grode, Ana Manning and Maddy Murphy of Eastern Kentucky share the top spot with a pair of goals this season. Keeper Marah Krick has started in six of seven matches, making 21 saves. Keeper Ruby Morgan, who started the Colonel’s last contest, has appeared in two games with eight saves.

The Commodores will host Pups at the Pitch during Thursday’s match. Fans must register their dogs prior to arrival. As fans enter the stadium with their dogs, they will receive a Vanderbilt soccer dog bandana. After the match, fans will receive a Vanderbilt frisbee as well.
