Nicholas Smith joined the Vanderbilt Athletics staff as a term professional athletic trainer working with the Commodore men’s basketball team prior to the start of the 2024-25 season.

He worked the previous two seasons as a certified athletic trainer at Munford (Tenn.) High School. While working on his undergraduate degree he served in roles as a student assistant not only at Vanderbilt but also Middle Tennessee and with the Arizona Cardinals along with Independence and Siegel High Schools.

Smith graduated from Middle Tennessee in 2022 with a bachelor’s degree in athletic training and is currently working on his master’s degree at Concordia (Ill.) University. He is a member of both the National Athletic Trainers’ Association and Tennessee Athletic Trainers Association.
