Enjoyed the best year of his Commodore career as a senior inside linebacker… Started all 13 games this season as one of the team’s leaders on defense… Ranked among Southeastern Conference leaders with 62 solo tackles and 119 total tackles…Griffin posted a career-high 18 tackles against SEC opponents Kentucky and Florida… Griffin’s tackle total against Kentucky and Florida was the highest regular-season totals in the SEC… Also contributed 4.5 tackles for loss, one quarterback sack, one interception and recovered two fumbles… Posted at least four tackles in every game… Started the season by producing at least eight tackles in eight of the Commodores’ first nine games… Contributed two tackles for loss, including a sack, among eight tackles in opening-season win over Middle Tennessee… Contributed 1.5 tackles for loss in victory over Arkansas… Interception came at Missouri… Finished Commodore career by registering a team-high nine total tackles and seven unassisted stops, against Baylor in Texas Bowl.
2017
Griffin played in 11 of 12 games as a third-year contributor… Earned five late-season starts at inside linebacker… Finished the season ranked among team leaders with 62 total tackles, 32 unassisted stops and 8.5 tackles for loss… Also added a quarterback sack and forced fumble… Consistent performer for Commodore defense down the stretch, posting at least four tackles in last nine games of season… Established new single-game high with 12 tackles against Kentucky… Also had eight stops vs. Missouri… Matched another career high with five solo stops at Florida… Quarterback sack came in win over Western Kentucky… Registered forced fumble against Alabama.
2016
Griffin became a valuable contributor for the Commodore defense as a second-year inside linebacker… Griffin played in all 13 games, finishing the year with his first career start in the team’s win over Tennessee… Concluded the year with 21 total tackles, 12 unassisted stops and 1.5 tackles for loss… Posted a career outing in victory over Ole Miss — five solo stops among six total tackles… Also had four tackles at Auburn, and multiple stops against Middle Tennessee, Tennessee State, Tennessee and NC State.
2015
Griffin saw action in 11 games as true freshman… Participated as reserve inside linebacker and special teams contributor… Finished with nine tackles, including six solo stops… Registered two tackles at Ole Miss and at Florida.
HIGH SCHOOL
Two-year captain and three-year starter at linebacker… Finished career with 428 tackles, ranking No. 2 all-time at Armwood… Topped Hawks in tackles all three years as starter, helping team to 37-6 three-year record as starter, including 6A state championship game appearances in 2013 and 2014… As senior, registered 158 tackles, nine sacks and seven fumble recoveries for 14-1 squad… Named first-team All-America LB by Max Preps and Tampa Bay Defensive Player of the Year as senior… Notched 150 tackles, 15 tackles for loss and two interceptions as junior… As sophomore, registered 120 tackles, four sacks and two interceptions… Three-time 6A All-State and All-Area selection… High academic achiever.
