2015 Fall SEC Academic Honor Roll
2017
Smith put together his finest Commodore as a senior defender… Smith participated in 10 games at inside linebacker, earning six starts… Ranked among the defense’s top players until injuries slowed his production at midseason… Set numerous single-season highs, including 29 solo stops, 57 total tackles and four tackles for loss… Started season with six solo tackles in team’s opening-season win at Middle Tennessee, then added nine tackles against Alabama A&M and a career-best 12 stops in victory over Kansas State… Contributed 1.5 tackles for loss in Alabama A&M performance… Had at least six tackles in each of team’s first six games… Closed his Commodore career with productive effort in season finale win over Tennessee.
2016
Smith dealt with injuries as a third-year contributor for the Commodore defense… Smith played in nine games at linebacker and safety, finishing the year with six total tackles, including four unassisted stops… He matched a career high with three tackles in the team’s win at Georgia.
2015
Smith became a valuable member of the Commodore secondary as a second-year contributor… Played in 11 of 12 games, missing only the Georgia game… Played both safety and nickel back, earning starts in victory at Middle Tennessee and against Houston… Concluded the year with 10 total tackles and a defensed pass… Opened season with two tackles against Kentucky, then established personal high with three stops in win over Austin Peay… Also contributed pair of tackles at Ole Miss.
2014
Smith saw action in 10 games as a true freshman… Participated on special team coverage units and as reserve safety/nickel back in defensive secondary… Concluded the season with three solo tackles, with stops coming vs. South Carolina, Georgia and Florida.
High School
Senior captain… Two-way starter as junior and senior… In 2013, helped Patriots to superb 12-1 record, district title and Class 6A quarter-finals… Posted 34 solo tackles, 54 total stops, three interceptions and four forced fumbles as DB… Caught 16 passes for 201 yards as WR… Named to sports-writers’ 6A First Team All-State squad and Tennessean’s Dandy Dozen and All-Midstate teams… Played in postseason Semper Fi All- American Game… Started at QB and DB as junior… As QB, rushed for 777 yards, passed for 628 yards and accounted for 10 TDs; as DB, had 77 total tackles, an INT and two forced fumbles.

Emmanuel Demetric Smith… Born July 25, 1995… Son of Demetrius and Stephanie Smith… Dad is a police officer; mom works at Dupont… Younger brother, Joshua, is a standout player at Oakland HS… Dad played at Middle Tennessee… Working toward a degree in Environmental Sociology… Studied in Brazil in May 2016.
