Scheu was nominated for several prestigious individual honors during his final season, including the Wuerffel Trophy, William V. Campbell Trophy and Senior CLASS Award… Named as the team’s top Scholar-Athlete… Played in 11 games at tight end, earning 10 starting assignments… Missed the win over Austin Peay due to injury… Ended season as the team’s second leading receiver with 26 catches, good for 231 yards and a touchdown… Posted season highs in catches and yardage at South Carolina, registering six receptions for 59 yards… Also had five catches against SEC foes Ole Miss and Missouri… Touchdown came in season finale at Tennessee… Concluded the year as team’s active career leader with 82 receptions, 920 receiving yards and seven TD catches… Accepted an invitation to play in the postseason East-West Shrine Game.
2014
Scheu capped his finest season as a Commodore by earning All-Southeastern Conference honors from the Associated Press… Started all 12 games at tight end in new offensive scheme… Established new career highs with 39 receptions, 525 receiving yards and four touchdown catches, sharing or leading the team in all three categories… Posted more catches than any other SEC tight end, and ranked second in yardage… Receiving yardage total was the most by a Commodore tight end since 1983… Team’s active career leader with 56 catches, 693 receiving yards and six touchdown catches… Registered at least one catch in all 12 games… Established new single-game career highs against SEC foes Missouri (six receptions) and South Carolina (83 receiving yards)… Amassed 20 catches, 256 receiving yards and three touchdowns in last five appearances… Also posted five catches of 25 yards of longer… Represented the offense at preseason SEC Media Days.
2013
Played in 12 games, earning seven starting assignments at tight end, including team’s win over Houston in BBVA Compass Bowl… Finished year with nine catches, good for 123 yards and a TD… Opened the season against Ole Miss with a 2-catch, 43-yard performance that included a 34-yard TD reception… Closed the year impressively, catching three passes for 48 yards in win over Wake Forest.
2012
Played in 12 games during the season, earning seven starts at tight end… Arguably best blocker among team’s TE corps… Caught eight passes for 48 yards and a touchdown on the season… Had a career-high three catches for 21 yards versus Florida… Touchdown catch was acrobatic grab against Presbyterian… Also contributed two catches in team’s Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl victory over North Carolina State.
2011
Did not earn playing time as true freshman, but has impressed coaches and teammates with blocking and receiving abilities during practices… Added weight and bulk since arriving on campus.
High School
Three-year starter at TE… Also saw action at FB late in senior season… As senior, hauled in 33 catches for 378 yards and five TDs for 7-5 squad that advanced to state 3A quarterfinals… Named to Indiana H.S. Coaches’ Association Top 50 All-State team as senior… In 2009, posted 43 receptions, good for 724 yards and 10 TDs, helping Memorial to second straight state finals appearance… As sophomore, had five TD catches… Team played in 3A state finals in 2008-09 seasons… Finished career with 93 receptions, fourth all-time at school, 1,433 receiving yards and 20 TD catches.
