2013
Lassing played in 13 games, earning seven starting assignments as team[apos]s fullback/H-back… Concluded the regular season with four receptions for 25 yards and two TDs… Also had one rush for three yards… Starts came against Ole Miss, Austin Peay, UMass, Missouri, Georgia, Florida and in BBVA Compass Bowl victory over Houston… Had three catches for 18 yards and a TD in win over UAB… Closed the season with a 7-yard TD catch vs. Wake Forest… One of the team[apos]s top academic performers, Lassing earned CoSIDA All-District III Academic team honors… Was nominated for National Scholar Athlete Award and SEC Scholar Athlete of the Year.
2012
Lassing appeared in 12 of 13 games for the Commodores as the primary fullback… Has helped pave the way for a rushing attack that averaged 166 yards per game and a passing attack that averaged 214 yards per game… Also caught two passes for 19 yards.
2011
Played key offensive role as versatile tight end/fullback and special teams contributor in true sophomore campaign… Served as solid blocker fullback role… Saw action in all 13 games… Had a catch in each of the team[apos]s first five games, resulting in 54 receiving yards and one TD… Had posted a 25-yard rush in narrow loss to Arkansas… First catch of season was career-long 15-yarder for TD in win over Elon.
2010
As true freshman, Lassing was inserted into the offense at tight end after season-ending injuries to Austin Monahan and Mason Johnston… Played in 10 of 12 games, contributing at TE and on special teams… Missed Arkansas and Kentucky games to injury… Lone catch for three yards came in finale vs. Wake Forest.
High School
Senior captain… Two-year starter at RB/FB, LB/DE and punter… As senior, produced 1,417 rushing yards, 212 receiving yards and 21 combined TDs as RB, posted 92 tackles at LB; and averaged 42 yards as punter, helping MBA to Division II state runner-up finish… Named D-II Middle/East Region Player of the Year, two-time D-II All-State and All-Midstate by Tennessean… Contributed 283 rushing yards, 17 receptions and 32 tackles as junior… Also contributed on MBA[apos]s 2007 state title team… Decathlete in track and forward in basketball… High academic achiever, National Merit Finalist.

John Lassing… Son of Chuck and Cindy Lassing… born May 21, 1991… Oldest of three siblings: brother, Mac; and sister, Kelly… Dad is a bank officer … Six relatives, including dad and grandfather, attended Vanderbilt… Enjoys snow skiing and hanging with family and friends on the lake… Organized summer lacrosse youth camp for boys… Working on degrees in Biological Sciences and Medicine, Health and Society… He has earned SEC Academic Honor Roll recognition in 2010 and 2011.
