As a senior, Carta-Samuels was one of the team[apos]s top offensive leaders and one of its most inspirational players… Carta-Samuels enjoyed plenty of success as a first-year starting quarterback… Earned starts in 10 of 12 games, missing the Texas A&M and Florida encounters due to knee injury, which are expected to sideline him in the bowl game… After leading Vanderbilt to late-season wins over Kentucky, Tennessee and Wake Forest, coaches announced Carta-Samuels would miss the BBVA Compass Bowl with a torn ACL that he played with in the previous month… Carta-Samuels put together one of the best seasons ever by a Vanderbilt QB, ranking No. 10 all-time on the program[apos]s single-season total offense charts with 2,383 total yards… His 2,268 passing yards are just 50 yards shy of the team[apos]s Top Ten single season totals… No Vanderbilt quarterback since the 1950s has completed a higher percentage than Carta-Samuels[apos] current 68.7%… Passing average of 226.8 yards ranks fifth in the SEC… Has
completed 193-of-281 passes, with 11 completions going for TDs… Opened season with 300-yard passing effort vs. Ole Miss… Also threw for 334 yards against UAB and career-high 338 yards vs. Missouri… Has rushed for five additional TDs… He was superb playing on the injured knee – hitting 64-of-84 passes for 596 yards in the three late regular-season wins.
2012
Carta-Samuels saw action in six games for the Commodores… Served as top reserve quarterback… Earned first Commodore start against Presbyterian… Completed 14-of-24 passes for 208 yards and a touchdown on the season… Also contributed 27 rushing yards… All of his passing stats came while leading Vanderbilt to win over Presbyterian.
2011
Transferred to Vanderbilt from Wyoming… Earned postseason Scout Team Offensive Player of the Year honor from coaches for practice efforts during fall practices.
2010 (Wyoming)
As second-year starting QB, amassed 2,094 total yards for Cowboys… Earned 11 starting assignments… Hit on 154 of 252 passes (61.1%) for 1,702 yards and nine TDs… Rushed for 392 yards and three TDs… Set career highs in completions (26) and passing yards (319) in victory over season opening opponent Southern Utah… Completed 20 of 31 passes for 199 yards vs. Texas… Threw for 267 yards in victory over Colorado State.
2009 (Wyoming)
Earned postseason Mountain West Conference Freshman of the Year honors… Concluded season by throwing for 201 yards and three TDs, and rushing for 71 yards as Offensive MVP in New Mexico Bowl victory… Final TD pass in bowl came in second OT providing Wyoming[apos]s game-winning score… Earned Mountain West Conference[apos]s Offensive Player of the Week after performances vs. UNLV, Florida Atlantic and San Diego State… First Wyoming QB to start as a true freshman since 1974… Named team[apos]s Freshman of the Year… Started last 10 games, leading Cowboys to 6-4 record as starter… Guided five fourth-quarter comeback wins… Threw for 1,953 yards and 10 TDs, completing 191 of 326 (58.6%) passes… Also rushed for 366 yards and produced 2,319 yards of total offense… Rushed for three scores and had one TD catch… Was one of only nine freshman QBs in the nation to lead his 2009 team to a bowl appearance… In top effort, threw for 246 yards, rallying Wyoming to win over San Diego State with 21 fourth quarter points.

As senior, led Bellarmine to 12-1 record and Central Coast Championship in 2008… Named first team All-Conference and second team All-County honors… Threw for over 1,400 yards and eight TDs and rushed for 370 yards and 10 TDs during senior season… Completed 65% of passes as senior… Helped Bellarmine to 10-2 record and a conference title as junior, throwing for over 1,300 yards and nine TDs.

Son of James Samuels and Linda Carta-Samuels… Born April 20, 1991… Oldest of three siblings; younger brother, Kyle, and younger sister, Gabrielle… Dad played tight end at Utah State with his twin brother who played quarterback at Utah State.
