2012
Nichter appeared in 12 games, while making seven starts at the team[apos]s nose tackle position… In his final season at Vanderbilt, he registered 16 total tackles and forced fumble… Concluded the regular season in style at Wake Forest, matching career highs with four solo tackles and five total tackles… Also started in team[apos]s Music City Bowl victory over N.C. State.
2011
Nichter followed up a career campaign in 2010 with another solid season as a redshirt junior… Saw extensive action in all 13 games, providing dependability and grit in the defensive front… Earned starting assignments in the first nine games, playing next to All-SEC defensive tackle candidate Rob Lohr… In final four games, backed senior T.J. Greenstone… Concluded regular season with 26 total tackles, including 14 solo stops… Credited with one quarterback sack and one quarterback hurry… The sack came in narrow loss to Arkansas… Also registered four tackles vs. Cincinnati in AutoZone Liberty Bowl.
2010
Nichter took advantage of a rash of injuries in the defensive tackle corps to put together his finest season… Played in every game at DT, and earned four consecutive starts during midseason stretch when co-captain T.J. Greenstone was slowed by injury… Finished the season with career highs in solo tackles (17), total tackles (32), tackles for loss (5.5) and QB sacks (3)… Ranked second among DTs in most categories… Matched career high in tackles (5) against UConn and Tennessee… Also posted three tackles and sack vs. Northwestern.
2009
Played sparingly as redshirt freshman, seeing action in two games as defensive tackle… Credited with four total tackles on the season, posting a pair of stops in victories over Western Carolina and Rice.
2008
Like fellow freshman Rob Lohr, remained on the two-deep at tackle for much of the season, yet never played, spending the season as a redshirt.
High School
Two-year captain for the Miners… Three-year starter at DT and OL… Helped Park City to 3A playoffs as senior… Posted 82 tackles and six QB sacks as senior… Named First Team All-State OL in 2007 by ‘Deseret Morning News’ after earning All-State DL honors as junior from ‘Salt Lake Tribune’… Contributed 49 tackles, and two QB sacks as junior, helping team to 10-1 record and state playoffs… Played baseball early in prep career.

Colton James Nichter… Son of Mike and Jodi Nichter… Born on June 25, 1990 in Long Beach, Calif… Has a younger brother, Jake… Dad is a sales manager; mom is a school counselor… Dad played football at Weber (Utah) State… Moved to Park City from Southern California prior to 9th grade… Enjoys skiing and snowboarding… Completed a degree in Human and Organizational Development in December 2012… Nichter is a four-time SEC Academic Honor Roll recipient.
