Ashabranner spent first year on campus as a redshirt defensive tackle… Worked to add bulk through Commodore conditioning program… Earned Defensive Scout of the Week honors after Miami (Ohio) win.

HIGH SCHOOL
Three-time captain and four-year varsity starter… Three-time Division III All-State selection… Named All Southeast Texas Private School Player of the Year and district defensive MVP as senior… Three-year, two-way starter for Warrior squad that won Bi-District title in 2005 and went 2-7 in 2006… On offense, started at center as freshman and sophomore, moving to tackle as junior… Early in senior campaign, moved to quarterback in spread offense, throwing for 1,198 yards and 12 TDs… Threw for more than 250 yards in final three prep games… On defense, amassed 289 total tackles, 73 tackles for loss, 16.5 quarterback sacks and 15 forced fumbles during career… Outstanding catcher in baseball, twice All-State selection with .528 career batting average… Earned all-district honors in basketball.

Austin (Texas) University… Dad served as Cathedral Christian defensive coordinator and teaches at school; mom is a registered nurse… First athlete in Cathedral Christian[apos]s six-year football history to earn Division I scholarship… Working toward a degree in Secondary Education from Peabody College.
