Coming off a record-breaking weekend, we wanted to see what music gets Jordan Matthews in an acrobatic, pass-catching mood.

A self-professed “huge Kanye West fan,” all of Jordan’s song choices are by the producer-turned-rapper-turned-designer.

His first choice is “Through the Wire.” “This song gets me mentally prepared because it’s about overcoming adversity and becoming great. Kanye made this song when his mouth was wired shut after a near fatal car accident. People told him he should stop rapping, but he didn’t let anything alter his dreams. My favorite line is when he says, ‘I’m a champion so I turn tragedy to triumph, make music that’s fire, spit my soul through the wire.’ It motivates me never to give up.”

JMatt’s second song is “Champion.” “This song is really upbeat, so it gets me excited to play. Kanye wrote this song for his dad, and he basically is trying to tell his father that he was a champion in his eyes, even if he didn’t know it. When I play I know that no matter what, I’m victorious in the eyes of the people that truly love me, so I go out and play for them!”

Last but not least, is “Good life.” “This one is self-explanatory. The first thing `Ye says in the song is, ‘Like we always do it this time, I go for mine, I got to shine!’ It gets me hype every time because I know it’s time to put on a show. After I listen to this song I’m ready to go.”

Listen to these three songs and you’re guaranteed to go 1-0 this morning.
