Lacrosse signees: Sarah Wilcox

The fourth signee to be introduced from Vanderbilt’s November 2011 signing class is defender Sarah Wilcox of Alexandria, Va.

WilcoxWilcox is a three-year lacrosse letter winner at St. Stephen’s and St. Agnes School for Coach Kathy Jenkins’ Saints. The squad has won back-to-back Independent School League and Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association championships (2010 and 2011).

She has participated in the US Lacrosse Schoolgirls National Tournament in each of the past two years, playing for DC Metro Team 4 in 2010 and for DC Metro Team 2 in 2011. In 2009, she was on a team that took second place at the U-15 National Tournament.

A 2011 Academic-All-American, Wilcox has been named to both the Head’s List and the Dean’s List at St. Stephen’s and St. Agnes. She has served on the Student Government’s Athletic Council for four years and also is a senior peer counselor. She earned a pair of varsity letters in field hockey, helping the squad to a 2009 ISL championship.

Wilcox has played her club lacrosse for Coach Gloria Lazano’s Capital Lacrosse. A member of the Blue squad for the last four years, Wilcox was a member of the 2009 squad that took second at the Prague Cup.

Daughter of Cynthia and Thomas Wilcox… Has two sisters: Katie, 20, and Isabelle, 14… Older sister is a junior at Auburn… Younger sister plays soccer and runs cross country… Father enjoys triathlons and is a two-time Ironman… Plans to major in communications.
