Lacrosse signees: Amanda Lockwood

The Commodore lacrosse team begins the new year by introducing its final two signees from November this week. Today’s incoming student-athlete is Georgia native Amanda Lockwood.

LockwoodLockwood is a three-year starter for Head Coach Tim Godby’s Milton High School squad. She helped lead the Eagles to consecutive 5A state championships in 2010 and 2011.

Last season, Lockwood led Milton with 51 ground balls and 79 draw controls while scoring 48 goals and adding 12 assists. She was named Most Valuable Player of a team that was ranked No. 14 in the MaxPreps Xcellent 20 National Girls Lacrosse Rankings.

A first-team All-State selection, Lockwood has earned All-America honors twice. She also has been named a Scholar-Athlete and an Academic All-American. In her first year with the Eagles, Lockwood was named the squad’s Rookie of the Year.

Away from the lacrosse field, Lockwood is the Vice President of her senior class and earned varsity letters in cross country.

Lockwood plays her club lacrosse for coach Crista Samaras and the Xteam.

Personal: Amanda Patricia Lockwood… Born Jan. 29, 1994, in Atlanta, Ga…. Daughter of Lisa and John Lockwood… Has one older sister, Annie, 21… Plans to major in business with a minor in psychology.
