Dec. 28, 2011

Following a short holiday hiatus, we return today to meet the seventh member of the recent Vanderbilt lacrosse signing class, which will enroll next fall and begin playing for the Commodores in 2013. Today’s signee is Alexa Kunowsky, an attacker from Maryland.

KunowskyKunowsky has been the starting center midfielder for Head Coach Renie Sotiropoulos’ Severn Admirals for four seasons. She has been honored as a US Lacrosse All-American and an ESPN High School Honorable Mention All-American during her high school career.

A first-team All-Anne Arundel County selection, Kunowsky has been lauded with All-Met honors from both the Washington Post and the Baltimore Sun. She has twice been named a Washington D.C. Under Armour All-Star and was on the Inside Lacrosse Rising Senior Watch List this past year.

Kunowsky is an outstanding all-around student-athlete. An honor roll student, she also has earned four varsity letters in basketball and three in field hockey. She has been a captain of all three varsity teams, as well.

Outside of school, Kunowsky plays her club ball for coach Bev Altig’s Maryland United Lacrosse Club. The squad enjoyed a good measure of success recently, sandwiching a 2010 IWLCA President’s Cup Tournament championship between two Summer Showcase Tournament crowns in 2009 and 2011.
