Catching Up With Keith

Vanderbilt Head Coach Steve Keith’s thoughts entering the meet.

On the team…
“Everyone is ready for their best. Mentally and physically they’re ready. The conference meet is a rather daunting task and to keep perspective and keep improving is challenging, but it’s where we want to compete. If we can all come in and have our best, it could be a little surprising.”

On the focus for the weekend…
“It’s trying to perform at your best. Whether that gets you to a final or not, be happy with the fact that you improved and that we’re getting closer.

On events Vanderbilt can score points in…
“The opportunities in the pentathlon, the high jump, the mile, the 3K, 5K, DMR, 4×4 and even pole vault, we’ve got better opportunities than previous years. That’s part of the long, slow build (of the program).”

On Brionne Williams in the high jump…
“It’s probably the deepest event, on a national level, as well. It’s great for her because if you score top-five at the SEC, you have a chance to score at nationals.”
