NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Vanderbilt will return to College Station, Texas to compete at the two-day Southeastern Conference Indoor Championship on Friday and Saturday.
“We have prepared our student-athletes all season for the various stages of competition and we are prepared to compete,” said Althea Thomas, director of cross country, track and field. “We have had numerous transformations throughout this season from record-breaking performances to event winners. Our goal is to get better every time we compete, to be better than who we were yesterday.”
The Commodores will be represented by Josephine Dal, Jess Creedon, Grace Jensen, Joslin Blair, Ella Lambert, Haley Bishop, Madison Fuller, Kaira Brown, Taiya Shelby, Caroline Eck, Niki Narayani, Cameron Fawcett, Ella Escobar, Divine Oladipo, Haley Walker, and McKenzie Yanek across 10 events.
Vanderbilt recently competed at the JDL Invite in the distance medley relay where the team broke a seven-year record, resetting the top mark in school history in the event. The relay team of Shelby, Jensen, Brown, and Eck finished eighth overall with a time of 11:14.47. The previous No. 1 record was held by C. Clayton, J. Edobi, S. Carpenter, and S. Barron from 2015 at 11:19.34.
The meet will begin for the Commodores on Friday at noon with the pentathlon.
