Traba, Freshmen Duo Pace Dores in Debut

Swimming begins campaign with three individual wins and a relay victory in New Orleans

NEW ORLEANS — Mercedes Traba and a pair of freshmen collected individual victories, but it was not enough as Vanderbilt swimming fell 150-87 to Tulane at the Reily Center Natatorium Friday.

Traba was victorious in the opening individual race of the meet, the 1,000 free, while both Aubrey Hull and Emily Constable earned wins in their collegiate debuts for the Commodores.

“Overall it wasn’t the result we wanted, but this first meet gives us a lot of things to work on the next couple of weeks begore we head to South Carolina,” head coach Jeremy Organ said. “We had some good swims, there are good things to look at like Mercedes with a strong showing in the 1,000 to get us going. I really liked what we saw from our two freshmen, Aubrey and Emily, I think they handled their first college meet very well.”
