Franklin played a important role in the Vanderbilt linebacking corps, and enjoyed his initial starting assignments during three-game stretch… The outside linebacker saw action in 11 regular season games and the BBVA Compass Bowl… He earned starting assignments against UMass, UAB and Missouri… Finished regular season with 13 total tackles, including six solo stops… Posted QB sacks against UAB and Missouri.
2012
In his first season of competition, Franklin saw action in 12 of 13 games during the regular season… Moved to outside linebacker after playing safety as true freshman… Spelled Karl Butler in the rotation… Ended season with 18 total tackles, including nine solo stops… Also added 3.5 tackles for loss, a fumble recovery and a pass defended… Posted career high of five total tackles in win over UMass… Also set career high with three solo tackles in team[apos]s Music City Bowl victory over North Carolina State.
2011
Franklin displayed ability as a safety prospect on practice squad units… Did not see action during his first year on campus.
High School
Three-year defensive starter for 6A Florida coastal power… Started as junior and senior at safety… Earned first starts as sophomore LB…. As senior, had 78 tackles and two INTs for 6-4 Indians[apos] squad… As junior, helped squad to 7-3 mark and district title with 74 total tackles and nine passes defended… Listed among Florida[apos]s Top 100 players as senior… Two-time first team All-County selection… As sophomore LB, contributed 61 tackles and three QB sacks.

Son of Larry and Anastasia Franklin… Born June 30, 1992… Born and raised along Florida[apos]s central Atlantic coast… Dad works in the construction industry; mom is certified nursing assistant… Has two brothers, Bernard Thomas and Jimmy Franklin, and one sister, Shaquashia Franklin… Summer jobs included making pizzas at Little Caesars.
