One of five true freshmen to see action in the Commodore secondary, Simmons became known as a punishing tackler during practices and limited participation on Saturdays… Played in 10 of 12 games, missing road losses at Connecticut and Arkansas… Saw action as special teams contributor and reserve safety… Finished first campaign with four solo tackles.

Senior captain and team MVP… Two-year starter at safety… Helped Stallions[apos] 2009 squad to 7-5 record and second round of Division 6-AAA state playoffs… As senior, earned All-State recognition after posting 75 tackles, three interceptions and 11 defensed passes… Added 285 rushing yards and three TDs as H-back…Named to Washington Post[apos]s All-Metro team as kick returner after two early-season returns for TDs… Also winner as sprinter on track squad… Member of National Honor Society.
