Coach Corbin Quote: When Will decided not to sign professionally, our program got better. He has a love of Vanderbilt that transcends his childhood. He is completely unselfish and team oriented. The growth that he has made on the mound in the last two years has been substantial. Down the stretch last year, we relied on Will a great deal in tight situations. His versatility and durability allow him to be utilized in many roles – the ball will be in his hands a great deal.

2010 – Made two relief appearances at the NCAA Regional, allowing one run on four hits with three strikeouts in 1.2 innings… Allowed two hits and struck out two in two innings of scoreless relief against LSU at the SEC Tournament 5/27… Earned third win of the season, allowing two runs on four hits with one walk and four strikeouts in career-high six innings of work in 17-inning walk-off win over Louisville 5/11… Allowed two hits while fanning two in one inning of scoreless relief against Georgia 4/30… Threw two-innings of no-hit relief against Tennessee 4/23… Allowed season-highs in runs (5) and hits (7) with three walks in four innings of relief against Lipscomb 4/20… Threw four innings of three-hit shutout baseball with one walk and five strikeouts, earning second win of the season against Wofford 3/30… Threw 3.1 innings of scoreless relief with three strikeouts against Tennessee Tech 3/3… Retired Southern California in order at Dodgertown Classic 2/27… Made first collegiate appearance in Niagara series, throwing one-inning of scoreless relief 2/21… SUMMER BALL – Pitched for Orleans in the Cape Cod League over the summer going 1-1 in 16 games with a 3.70 ERA… Earned the Coaches Award for the the Firebirds.

2009 – Redshirted… SUMMER BALL – Went 2-0 with 3.46 ERA in 10 appearances for Sanford in the New England Collegiate Baseball League… Struck out 25 in 26 innings of work with two saves. Made three starts. Opponents hit just .167 off him.

High School – Named the 2007-08 Robertson County Times Player of the Year and 2006 Robertson County Times Pitcher of the Year… Named to the 2008 Tennessean All-Mid-state Team and 2008 Rawlings Preseason All-Region Team… Ranked fourth-best baseball prospect in TN… Named to the 2007-08 TSWA All-State Baseball Team… Drafted in the 37th round by the LA Dodgers out of high school… Also played for the Brentwood A[apos]s… Chosen for the 2007 East Coast Professional Showcase and 2007 Perfect Game National Showcase… Was a Team Tennessee Selection 2006-08 All-District and All District Tournament Team, and All-Region 2006-07… Holds East Robertson High[apos]s record for most home runs hit, lowest ERA, and most strikeouts with over 300 in his career… Was a four-year letter winner in basketball and baseball, a four-year starter in baseball and two-year starter in basketball … Was the captain his senior year in baseball and basketball… Helped lead his basketball team to the 2006 State Tournament and 2005 District Champs… Named to basketball[apos]s 2008 All-District, All-District Tournament team and Robertson County Times All-County Team… Was a Tennessee Scholar, Sr. Beta and member of the National Honor[apos]s Society.

ACADEMICS – Clinard is earning a degree in Environmental Studies and will receive his diploma in 2012.

PERSONAL – William Robert Clinard (CLY-nerd)… Born 11/3/89… Son of Kevin and Philicia Clinard… Has a sister, Kecia… Majoring in Environmental Studies… Favorites include Mark Wahlberg (actor), Twister (movie), SportsCenter and The Weather Channel (TV shows), steak (meal), Lil Wayne (musician) and LeBron James (athlete)… Would be a tornado chaser if he weren[apos]t playing baseball… If he could change one thing about his sport it would be to change from aluminum to wood bats… His advice to youngsters is to live your dream. It[apos]s possible!… Most memorable athletic experience is pitching in the College World Series… Has fulfilled a lifelong dream to play baseball for Vanderbilt.
