Head coach Tim Corbin on Schlote: “Nate is a high-end student-athlete who excels both on the field and in the classroom. He is a tremendous student and consistently handles his academic responsibilities at a high level. Nate is another young man who drew significant interest from MLB evaluators, which speaks to the quality of his ability and overall makeup. I have really liked how his confidence grew over the course of the fall, as it showed up in both his preparation and performance. On the mound, Nate has a good arm, features a very good breaking ball, and consistently throws strikes. He is a smart, low-maintenance young man who understands how to go about his work the right way. Nate is a pleasure to coach and continues to move in the right direction.”
