BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Vanderbilt soccer picked up another pair of awards from the Southeastern Conference on Monday afternoon, as Sydney Watts and Mia Hebert were named the Offensive Player and Freshman of the Week, respectively.
It’s the second such award for Watts this season and fourth of her career. The senior scored the opening two goals in a huge road win over No. 9/6 Tennessee on Sunday afternoon to go with her goal at Ole Miss on Thursday. She has now scored in all but one of the Commodores’ 11 games this season and is tied for third nationally with 12 goals.
Hebert only made her collegiate debut four games ago but has burst onto the scene, scoring three goals and adding two assists. She logged a brace against Ole Miss, finding the back of the net once in each half, and posted two assists in the win over the Lady Vols.
The No. 3/1 Commodores will be back home this Friday at 6 p.m. to take on Kentucky.
