FORT WORTH, Texas – The No. 10-ranked Vanderbilt men’s golf team makes its annual trek to the Lone Star State this week for the Ben Hogan Collegiate Invitational, presented by Charles Schwab. The two-day tournament takes place Monday and Tuesday at the Colonial Country Club, as the Commodores seek their third team title at the event over the last four seasons.
Tournament Format and Schedule
The Ben Hogan Collegiate Invitational, co-hosted by Charles Schwab and TCU, is a five-count-four, 54-hole stroke play tournament. Teams are scheduled to play 36 holes on Monday, then return to Colonial Country Club Tuesday to conclude play.
The tournament tees off with an 8:15 a.m. shotgun start on Monday. Teams continue into Round 2 on Monday afternoon at the conclusion of the first 18 holes. Play resumes at 8 a.m. on Tuesday.
Exemption into a PGA TOUR Event
The individual medalist at the Ben Hogan Collegiate Invitational will earn an exemption into the 2027 Charles Schwab Challenge on the PGA TOUR.
Tee Times
Vanderbilt opens Monday with an 8:15 a.m. shotgun start from Holes 1A-4. Teams will roll into Round 2 on Monday afternoon. Tee times for Round 3 will be set at the end of Round 2. Fans can click here for a full list of pairings each day.

Vanderbilt Lineup
1) Will Hartman (R) – So. – Marvin, N.C. – 2026-27 Scoring Avg: 69.67 – WAGR: 84th
The sophomore leads off the Vanderbilt lineup for the third-straight tournament to open the 2026-27 season. Hartman began his second campaign with the Dores with back-to-back top-10 finishes, as he tied for fourth at the Visit Knoxville Collegiate (7-under 203) and tied for sixth at the Inverness Intercollegiate(2-over 215). The Marvin, North Carolina, native has placed inside the top 10 in each of his last four tournaments dating back to last season, while he has carded par or better in 19 of his last 24 rounds. This is the All-American's 10th appearance in the Vandy lineup.
2) Michael Riebe (L) – So. – Encinitas, Calif. – 2026-27 Scoring Avg: 71.33 – WAGR: 77th
The Encinitas, California, native is coming off a season-best performance at the Inverness Intercollegiate, tying for 12th with a score of 3-over 216. Riebe closed out his stay in Toledo, Ohio, by carding under par in his final two rounds. He finished a season-low 3-under 68 in Round 3. It was Riebe’s fifth career top-25 finish and his first since tying for 25th at the 2026 Mason Rudolph Championship. The sophomore has carded under par in three of his last four rounds heading into the Ben Hogan Collegiate Invitational. This is his 12th career appearance in the Vanderbilt lineup.
3) Tyler Mawhinney (R) – Fr. – Fleming Island, Fla. – 2026-27 Scoring Avg: 72.50 – WAGR: 101st
A member of Vanderbilt’s No. 1-ranked 2026 signing class, Mawhinney will be making his third-straight appearance in the Vanderbilt lineup to begin his career. The Fleming Island, Florida, native has made an immediate impact, as his score has counted in all but one round this season. Mawhinney made Commodore history in his Vandy debut at the Visit Knoxville Collegiate, carding 5-under 65 in Round 2 to set the school record for the lowest 18-hole score on a debut day.
4) Jon Ed Steed (R) – So. – Enterprise, Ala. – 2026-27 Scoring Avg: 70.00 – WAGR: 125th
The sophomore makes his second-straight appearance in the lineup, while it is the 13th time overall. The Enterprise, Alabama, native opened his second season with the Dores by carding even par 210 at the Visit Knoxville Collegiate to tie for 30th. Steed is coming off a 2025-26 campaign where he earned GCAA All-America Freshman Team and All-SEC Freshman Team honors.
5) Luke Colton (L) – Fr. – Frisco, Texas – 2026-27 Scoring Avg: 71.67 – WAGR: 80th
A member of the Commodores’ top-ranked 2026 signing class, Colton makes his debut in the Vanderbilt lineup in his home state. The Frisco, Texas, native made his collegiate debut at the Visit Knoxville Collegiate, where he played as an individual and tied for 62nd with a 54-hole score of 5-over 215. Colton is the No. 1-ranked golfer in the Class of 2026 according to Golf Channel and was a two-time AJGA Rolex All-America first team selection.

The Field
A total of 16 teams will be at the Ben Hogan Collegiate Invitational. All but two of those programs are ranked in the most recent GCAA Bushnell/Golfweek Coaches Poll. Teams competing against the No. 10 Commodores at Colonial will be No. 1 Auburn, No. 2 Oklahoma State, No. 3 Arizona State, No. 5 Texas Tech, No. 8 Texas, No. 9 Georgia Tech, No. 11 Alabama, No. 12 Georgia, No. 14 North Carolina, No. 18 Oklahoma, No. 20 Stanford, No. 21 Pepperdine, No. 23 UCLA, Virginia and host-school TCU.
Course Information
The Colonial Country Club is 7,289 yards and plays as a par 70. Located in Fort Worth, Texas. Colonial has hosted an annual PGA TOUR event since 1946, the longest-running non-major tour event to be held at the same venue. Started in 1936, it has hosted the 1941 U.S. Open, the 1975 Tournament Players Championship and the 1991 U.S. Women’s Open.

Vanderbilt at the Ben Hogan Collegiate Invitational
Vanderbilt will be seeking its third team title over the last four seasons at the Ben Hogan Collegiate Invitational. The Commodores tied for first at the 2025 event with a score of 10-over 850, and captured first place in 2023, carding 16-under 824.
The Dores have been a mainstay at the TCU-hosted tournament, which has been rebranded three times since its inception in 2014. Vandy has participated in the tournament in 11 of the last 12 seasons, with the lone absence in 2020.
Known as the Nike Collegiate Invitational when TCU co-hosted the tournament with Oregon from 2014-19, on a rotating schedule between Colonial on even years and Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club in Portland, Oregon, on odd years. The tournament was renamed the Colonial Collegiate Invitational from 2020-21, when Colonial Country Club became the host course exclusively. Then in 2022, the tournament changed to its current name, with Charles Schwab becoming a sponsor the following year. The tournament was moved to Shady Oaks Country Club in 2023 due to renovations at Colonial.
The Dores have won the team title at the event three times. Vandy captured first place at the Ben Hogan Collegiate in 2023 and 2025 and won the Nike Collegiate Invitational in 2016.
Cole Sherwood, who recently earned his PGA TOUR card, is the lone Commodore to capture the individual title at the Ben Hogan Collegiate, winning in 2023. He was tied for first at 7-under 203 at the end of play, then went on to defeat Christo Lamprecht of Georgia Tech on the first playoff hole. His clutch performance in stroke play simultaneously secured the team title for the Dores and earned him a sponsor exemption into the 2024 Charles Schwab Challenge, though he forewent his exemption in favor of playing with Vanderbilt at the 2024 NCAA Championship.
Last Time Out
Vanderbilt had a trio of golfers finish inside the top 20 at the 18th Inverness Intercollegiate, as the Commodores concluded the three-day tournament in a three-way tie for sixth place.
Sophomores Will Hartman and Michael Riebe, along with senior Carlos Astiazaran, each placed in the top 20 at the Inverness Intercollegiate. Hartman tied for sixth with a three-round total of 2-over 215, while Riebe’s 3-over 216 tied him for 12th. Astiazaran’s 54-hole score of 6-over 219 put him in a tie for 19th.
