NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Vanderbilt sophomore William Moll has been selected to play in the 2021 Palmer Cup.
From Houston, Texas, Moll is Vanderbilt’s ninth selection to participate in the prestigious event. This year’s tournament is scheduled for June 11-13 at Rich Harvest Farms in Sugar Grove, Illinois.
“Obviously, we are super excited for William being named to the Arnold Palmer Cup Team,” Vanderbilt head coach Scott Limbaugh said. “He has played with a ton of consistency all year and really helped lead our team all spring. I know he will represent Vanderbilt and team USA very proudly during the competition.”
Moll recently made the match-clinching putt at the SEC Championships in what has been a breakout season for the second-year player. He has eight top-15 finishes so far for the 2020-21 season and a 70.3 stroke average after nine events.
Part of the United States Team for the Palmer Cup, Moll will join a squad of the top college golfers to face the International Team. The U.S. leads the event series 11-9-1.
The Arnold Palmer Cup, a Ryder Cup-style tournament, was co-founded by Arnold Palmer and The Golf Coaches Association of America and began at the Bay Hill Club and Lodge in Orlando, Florida, in 1997.
Rich Harvest Farms is consistently ranked in Golf Digest’s America’s 100 Greatest Golf Courses. The course consists of 18 manicured holes and is a 1,820-acre showcase of nature and agriculture.
Moll’s will join Brandt Snedeker (2003), Luke List (2006-07), Hunter Stewart (2015), Matthias Schwab (2015-16), Will Gordon (2016, 2019), John Augenstein (2019), Patrick Martin (2019) and Limbaugh (2019) as Vanderbilt participants in the event. Augenstein was chosen as part of the 2020 tournament which was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
