tri_bullett_9px.jpg Four former Commodores are coming back to Nashville with the Chicago Bears for a preseason contest against the Titans on Saturday. Earl Bennett and D.J. Moore are looking forward to playing in front of Vandy fans again. The Chicago Sun-Times focused on Jay Cutler’s return by interviewing former Commodores about his collegiate career. And the Chicago Tribune looked at Chris Williams’ offseason training regiment at a barn in Nashville.

tri_bullett_9px.jpg Strength coach Dwight Galt has embraced his role of making the Commodore football team stronger and faster. “I was very aggressive with them,” Galt said. “We went full go from my first workout. They threw up a few times, and they were sore for a couple of weeks, but they started getting strong really fast.”

tri_bullett_9px.jpg Head Coach James Franklin will decide by next week if he or John Donovan will call the offensive plays for the Elon game.

tri_bullett_9px.jpg Franklin hasn’t officially announced his starting quarterback for the season opener, but neither has Elon. “We are going to wait,” Franklin said. “We are not announcing ours until they announce theirs. It is kind of like running out on the field. You kind of have a competition to see who is going to wait to the last minute. We’ll see when we do that.”

tri_bullett_9px.jpg The women’s cross country team received its highest preseason conference ranking in program history. League coaches predicted the Commodores to finish third in the SEC. “Last year was a season of program bests and I know that the women have much higher goals for this season,” Head Coach Steve Keith said.

tri_bullett_9px.jpg The women’s soccer team will host a pair of matches this weekend starting with Western Kentucky on Friday night. CJ Rhoades and Dana Schwartz shared their thoughts on the first day of fall classes as well as playing the Hilltoppers under the lights.

We’re going to double dip today, if Costanza doesn’t mind…

First, Leathers suggested to post ‪”Seven Spanish Angels‬” by Ray Charles & Willie Nelson.

Schulzie then followed with Old Crow Medicine Show’s “Wagon Wheel,” which has become a regular fixture over the loudspeakers at preseason camp. Coach Franklin has even two-stepped to the tune during practice.
