NASHVILLE – The Vanderbilt women’s lacrosse team has been recognized by the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association as an Academic Squad for the 2010-11 school year. A total of 56 Division I schools earned the honor by achieving a cumulative grade point average of better than 3.0.
Vanderbilt joins Johns Hopkins, Northwestern and Penn State as the four American Lacrosse Conference schools to earn the recognition this season. The Commodores set an ALC record this year by placing 28 student-athletes on the league’s Academic Honor Roll.
After finishing at 8-8 this season, the Commodores will welcome six newcomers to the 2012 squad while returning a 10-member senior class that includes two-time first-team All-American Ally Carey.
