Keegan Named Golden Spikes Award Semifinalist

Dominic Keegan earns national recognition

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Vanderbilt baseball senior Dominic Keegan was named a semifinalist for the Golden Spikes Award on Tuesday. The award is given to the top player in college baseball each year.

Keegan earned first-team All-SEC honors Monday after concluding the regular season with a .366 average to rank fifth in the league, while tying for fourth in the conference in RBIs with 57 on the year.

The Golden Spikes Award finalists will be announced June 8. Eight Commodores have been finalists and Vanderbilt has one winner, David Price in 2007. The most recent Vandy finalists were Jack Leiter and Kumar Rocker last season.

The Methuen, Massachusetts, native was recently named a semifinalist for the Dick Howser Trophy along with teammate Enrique Bradfield Jr., and is a finalist for the Senior CLASS Award.

Keegan and the Commodores begin SEC Tournament play at 4:30 p.m. CT on Tuesday against Ole Miss in Hoover, Alabama.
