Vandy set for return to South Carolina for final meet of fall season

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — Three Vanderbilt swimmers combined to claim five victories as action concluded at Illinois’ House of ’Paign Invite held at the ARC Pool on Saturday.

Aubrey Hull won three times on the second day of the meet, with Kailia Utley and Reagan Mathieson also touching the wall first in an event.

“It was a challenging two days for us, Saturday’s swims looked a little more like where we as coaches thought we would be but it was too much to overcome from Friday,” head coach Jeremy Organ said. “Aubrey continues to really have a strong start to the season, she took command of the backstrokes. Reagan winning the 50 free shootout was a testament to her compete level. We had some good swims from a handful of individuals, now we need to turn our attention to the next couple of weeks and preparations for the midseason meet at South Carolina.”

In the team competition, Vandy fell 232-101 to host Illinois and dropped a 194-135 decision to Indiana State.

The Commodores are next in action at the Gamecock Invitational, a three-day meet that will get underway on Nov. 20.
