Brown Tabbed to USA Baseball CNT Staff

Scott Brown named Collegiate National Team pitching coach

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Vanderbilt baseball associate head coach Scott Brown was named to the 2022 USA Baseball Collegiate National Team coaching staff, announced by USA Baseball today.

Brown, who will be making his national team coaching debut, will serve as the team’s pitching coach.  will be one of three coaches on the national team staff from the Southeastern Conference, joining Drew Bianco (LSU) and Ole Miss head coach Mike Bianco.

Brown wrapped up his 10th season as pitching coach and seventh as associate head coach with the Commodores in 2022. During his time in Nashville, he has coached 34 pitchers who have been selected in the MLB Draft, including 12 in the first three rounds.

Most recently, Brown saw four of his pitchers taken in the 2021 draft, including a pair of top-10 picks in Jack Leiter and Kumar Rocker. In 2021, Leiter and Rocker became the first pair of teammates to lead the nation in strikeouts in over 30 seasons.

Over his ten years with the Commodores, Brown has helped lead the Vanderbilt program to two national championships, four College World Series finals appearances, nine NCAA Tournaments and six NCAA Super Regional appearances.

The Vanderbilt duo of Enrique Bradfield Jr. and Carter Holton earned invites to the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team Training Camp and will compete for a spot on the final roster.

The Collegiate National Team Training Camp will begin on June 29 and will feature 50 of the best non-draft eligible college baseball players in the country. The athletes will compete in a five-game intrasquad series in North Carolina before the staff will name a final 26-man roster. Team USA will then travel to Haarlem, Netherlands, to compete in Honkbalweek Harlem.

Vanderbilt has had 25 all-time selections compete for the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team, which ranks as the second-most among SEC programs. Most recently, the duo of Austin Martin and Tyler Brown competed for the Collegiate National Team in the Summer of 2019.
