The Vandy Boys opened the 2016 Omaha Challenge this week with the VandyBoys Triathlon and the weight carry.
The triathlon has become a staple in recent years with contestants rowing 500 meters, 20 box jumps followed by pushing a 120-pound sled 50 yards. The weight carry wrapped a quick but grueling first day consisting of carrying 70 pounds as far as the athletes could with their non-dominant hand.
Will Toffey claimed the top spot in the triathlon with a time of 2:47.3 that also propelled him to first place after the first day of competition. Walker Grisanti won the weight carry, toting the 70 pounds an amazing 300 yards with his left hand.
Team captains for the Challenge are Jeren Kendall, Kyle Wright, Penn Murfee and Toffey.
