Women beat Redhawks 6-1

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Commodores won their second match of the season, beating the Miami (Ohio) Redhawks 6-1at Currey Tennis Center.

“It was a very well-played match today,” said head coach Geoff Macdonald. “There were some very well-fought matches. Nelly fought back in her first set, she was down 0-3 and really battled back to win. I’m really proud of all the girls’ efforts on the courts today.”

The Dores took the doubles point by winning two of their matches, with Megan Gornet and Nelly Radeva pairing up for an 8-5 win over Alix Thurman and Christine Guerrazzi, and Jackie Wu and Lauren Mira beating Riekie Honiball and Nimisha Mohan 7-3.

Ashleigh Antal continued her streak of fast-paced singles play, defeating Ramona Costea 6-2, 6-1, while Alex Leatu finished her singles match strong against Alix Thurman as the two Dores avenged their doubles loss

Now 2-0 in their season, the Commodores will host Austin Peay on Monday afternoon at 3:00 p.m.
