Commodore Notes
Vanderbilt went 3-1 on the week including a 2-1 record over the weekend at the 2023 Cambria College Classic in Minneapolis. Vandy’s week was highlighted by a walk-off Saturday against No. 18 Maryland and a combined no-hitter Sunday against Minnesota. The Commodores rallied from a four-run deficit with an eight-run seventh inning Tuesday to defeat Austin Peay 11-7 at home. After falling 5-3 to Nebraska on Friday, Vanderbilt bounced back with an 8-7 win over ranked Maryland. Down one in the ninth, Enrique Bradfield Jr. singled to plate the tying run and RJ Schreck brought home the winning run on a sac fly to walkoff the Terps. On Sunday, Greysen Carter, Sam Hliboki, Ryan Ginther and Nick Maldonado, respectively, combined for a no-hitter against Minnesota in a 4-0 win. Hliboki struck out a career-high eight batters over 3.2 innings. It’s Vanderbilt’s fourth no-hitter since 2019. Two Dores had multi-home run games in Minnesota. RJ Schreck homered in consecutive at-bats Friday vs. Nebraska and RJ Austin hit his first collegiate home run Saturday in the win over Maryland. Austin homered again in his next at-bat. Bradfield stole his 100th career base with a pair of steals in Sunday’s win. He’s the seventh player in SEC history to reach 100 steals and is the only active player in NCAA baseball with 100 career steals.

Vanderbilt returns home for five games at Hawkins Field this week. The Dores host Tennessee Tech on Tuesday and Evansville on Wednesday with both games starting at 4:30 p.m. Vanderbilt then hosts Loyola Marymount for a three-game weekend series. All five games will air on SEC Network+.
