Weather Halts Day 1 of Outdoors

Black & Gold Invitational resumes Saturday morning

ORLANDO, Fla. – The outdoor season for the Vanderbilt track and field team was brought to an early pause due to a weather delay on Friday night at the UCF Track and Field / Soccer Complex.

The Commodores made it through several events on day 1 of the Black and Gold Invitational hosted by UCF.

Jess Creedon started Vandy off in the 400 meter hurdles at 4:30 p.m. She finished with a time of 1:05.17 finishing 17th overall.

The pair of Kaira Brown and Jordan Smith contended in the 200 meter dash in a heavily stacked field. Brown clocked a time of 25.26 with Smith finishing shortly behind at 25.64.

In the final event of the night, the 1500 meter run, several Commodores competed for the first time in their outdoor collegiate careers. Cameron Fawcett finished 12th with a time of 4:36.04 with Julia Rosenberg joining her in the top-20 at 4:40.62. Emma Curry (4:42.55), Jacqueline Pinon (4:49.10), and Gigi Clifford (4:56.91) also competed in the event.

Day 2 of the Black & Gold Invitational will begin at 11 a.m. central with 4×100 meter relay.
