Vandy Hosts Sunday Doubleheader

Dores welcome Austin Peay/Tennessee State in season’s first doubleheader

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Vanderbilt women’s tennis team is scheduled to play its first doubleheader of the season at home on Sunday. The Commodores face Austin Peay on the outdoor courts at 10:30 a.m. and Tennessee State indoors, not before 3 p.m.

The Dores took a weekend off after defeating Northwestern 4-3 on Feb. 11. Vanderbilt is 3-2 overall and is looking to extend their three-match winning streak.

Austin Peay
Austin Peay has a 3-4 record for the season and will also be looking for their fourth consecutive victory. The Governors last competed on Saturday, grabbing a clean 7-0 win over Southern Indiana.

Tennessee State
The Tigers are 0-9; their most recent matchup was this past Sunday against Presbyterian College, where they lost 5-2.

Home Match Notes
The weekend’s matches will be played at Brownlee O. Currey Jr. Tennis Pavilion at the Lummis Family Tennis Center, and admission is free. Free parking is available in the 25th Avenue Garage through the Highland Avenue entrance. For matches that begin before 5 p.m. on weekdays, spectators may park in any nonreserved space on floors nine through 11, and up to one hour before the start of the match. Vanderbilt tennis matches will enforce a clear bag policy. 

Promotions/Giveaways: Sunday’s matches will celebrate Black History Month with featured giveaways such as pom poms, foam noodles and free donuts.

Up Next: The Commodores will be on the road next weekend for their SEC season opener; they will take on Alabama on Friday at 5 p.m.
