Vanderbilt faces San Diego on Friday to open NCAA Tournament play

CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Vanderbilt baseball team is set to hit the road this weekend, traveling to Oregon for the NCAA Corvallis Regional, hosted by No.3 overall seed Oregon State.

The two-seeded Commodores (36-21) are joined by the host Beavers (44-15), No. 3 seed San Diego (36-18) and No. 4 seed New Mexico State (24-32). The Dores open the double-elimination regional at 3 p.m. CT Friday against San Diego with action airing live on ESPNU.

• Bradfield was the lone Commodore to the All-SEC defensive team.

Series History
• Friday’s matchup will mark the 14th time that Vanderbilt and San Diego have met in the all-time history between the two programs.
• The Commodores lead in the all-time series, holding a 9-4 advantage over the Toreros.
• Friday will mark the first time that the two teams have met in the NCAA Tournament.
• The two teams last met in the 2017 season on Opening Weekend. The Commodores took the final two games of the three-game set in San Diego to claim the series victory.

Regionals Away from Home
• The Vanderbilt baseball team is hitting the road for NCAA Regional play for the ninth time under Corbin and just the fourth time since the 2012 season.
• The Commodores have been on the road for 11 of their 19 NCAA Regionals in program history while hosting eight.
• Vandy has advanced to the NCAA Super Regionals in four of their eight regionals on the road under Corbin, including two consecutive in both 2017 and 2018.

The Streak Continues
• Vanderbilt’s stretch of 16 consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances (2006-22) under Corbin is tied for the longest streak marks the longest streak by a head coach in SEC history.
• The streak marks the second-longest active stretch in NCAA Division I, trailing only Florida State.
• Corbin is one of three active SEC head coaches to reach the NCAA Tournament in 13 or more consecutive seasons.
