Dores face Ole Miss and Mississippi State in SEC opener St. Patrick’s Day weekend

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Vanderbilt women’s tennis returns this weekend for its SEC home opener, defending the court against Ole Miss on Friday and Mississippi State on Sunday.

Last weekend saw the Commodores claim a 6-1 victory against Kentucky in their third conference match of the season on Sunday. Ranked No. 30 in the latest ITA rankings, the Dores are 6-4 this season, with three student-athletes ranked nationally for singles as well as two doubles teams.

Ole Miss
Ranked 34th, Ole Miss enters Friday’s match 8-3 for the season, with a 2-1 record in conference play. This past weekend, the Rebels competed against No. 34 LSU and No. 13 Texas A&M, defeating the Tigers 4-2 and dropping their match to the Aggies. In the latest ITA rankings, Ole Miss’ duo of Ava Hrastar and Briana Crowley are ranked 79th.

Mississippi State
The Bulldogs (9-6) are coming off a loss to LSU on Sunday, where they dropped the match and posted a 4-0 loss. On Friday, Mississippi State went up against Texas A&M, and the Aggies overcame the Bulldogs, 4 to nothing.

Home Match Notes
Because of construction around Vanderbilt athletic facilities, all outdoor competitions for the spring 2024 season will be played at the Ensworth Tennis Center, about 20 minutes from campus at 7405 TN-100, Nashville, TN 37221. In case of rain, matches will be moved indoors to the Ensworth facility and admission is free. Vanderbilt tennis matches will enforce a clear bag policy. 

Promotions: Friday’s match promotion is Tees for Tennis, featuring a Vanderbilt tennis T-shirt giveaway; for Sunday’s St. Patrick’s Day celebration, green Vanderbilt sweatbands will be available to fans.

Up Next: Next weekend the Commodores travel to College Station to face Texas A&M on Friday at 5 p.m., and will spend Sunday in Baton Rouge to take on LSU at 11 a.m.
