The Curry File
Emma Curry was a four-time school record holder and letterwinner in cross country, track and field and soccer at Waxahachie High School under head coach Edward De La Cruz. While in high school, she was a three-time team captain, and her prep best times were 4:53 in the 1,600 meters, 10:50 in the 3,200 meters, 11:12 in the two miles (XC) and 17:15 in the 5K (XC). Curry was a four-time individual and team district cross country champion and was the first in her school’s history to individually qualify for the cross country state championships in 2018. Multiple times, she has been named all-state and all-region, and she was named cross country runner of the year twice (2018, 2019). She graduated in the top two percent of her class academically and was named academic all-state in track and field and cross country.
