Amani Floyd Season 2007-08

2007: Ran a season best of 58.52 in 400 meters at Sea Ray Relays… Ran leg on virtually every 4×400-meter relay foursome; also ran split on occasional 4×200 meter relay units… Competed in 400-meter preliminaries at SEC Championships… Part of 4×200-meter unit that posted 1:41.77 effort at the Sea Ray Relays… Member of 4×400 meter relay team that ran 3:45.89 at the SEC Championships… Helped team to a point at SEC Indoor Championships by running strong leg on 4×400 relay that finished eighth overall.

2006: Concentrated at 400-meter distances during outdoor season… Set collegiate best in open 400 competition of 57.49 at Indiana[apos]s Hayes Invitational… Ran 58.62 in preliminaries at SEC Championships… Ran season-best 57.1 leg on team[apos]s 4×400-meter relay that earned points at conference meet… Opened outdoor season running 200 and 400 at Alabama Relays… Ran leg on school-record setting 4×200-meter foursome effort at Sea Ray Relays… Alternated between 200, 400 and relays indoor… Best open 400 came at Kentucky Invitational… Ran 26.44 for 200 meters at MTSU indoor opener… Ran both 4×400-meter relay and distance medley relay legs.

2005: Concentrated at 400 meters and 4×400-meter relay as freshman coming off injury in final year as prep… Set collegiate best at 400 meters (58.81) in prelims of SEC Championships… Ran 58.2 leg on 4×400-meter relay unit that finished seventh at SEC meet… Indoor 400 PR of 59.91 came at SEC Championships.

In High School: Three-year team captain… Team MVP as junior… Missed much of senior season with leg injury… Sprint PRs of 24.8 (200) and 54.6 (400)… Two-time All-State and All-League recipient… As junior, ran anchor leg of 4×400 relay squad that won Ohio State Meet, joining her dad as the first father/daughter combo to win the same event at the state meet while attending the same school… Also ran 4×400 leg that finished fifth at 2003 Adidas Meet.

Academics: Floyd is working toward a degree in religious studies from the College of Arts and Sciences.

Personal: Amani Solange Floyd… Daughter of Lawrence Floyd and Dea Character… Born June 25, 1986… One of four siblings… Both parents are attorneys… A honors student, earned City of Cleveland Achievement Award… Minority Achievement Committee Sister Scholar recipient.
