EUGENE, Ore. – Taiya Shelby qualified for the 400-meter semifinals in her return to Hayward Field at the 2022 Toyota USATF Outdoor Championships on Thursday.
Shelby (51.65) contested in the third heat of the event and finished seventh overall. With this qualifying time, she advances to the semifinal race at 10:25 p.m. CT Friday.
Shelby will be joined by Veronica Fraley who will compete in discus at 8:45 p.m. Fraley has history on the national stage having represented Team USA at the 2019 U20 Pan American Games in shot put and placing 10th overall in the discus during the 2020 U.S. Olympic Team Trials.
