Commodores head to College Station for SEC Indoor Championships

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — It’s championship week. The Vanderbilt track and field team heads to College Station, Texas, Friday and Saturday for the SEC Indoor Championships at Gilliam Indoor Stadium.

Events are scheduled to begin with the pentathlon at noon Friday. The first track event will be the mile at 5:15 p.m., and the opening night will wrap up with the distance medley relay at 9:21 p.m.

Saturday will begin with the women’s high jump at 1:15 p.m., and the finals of the mile at 4:20 p.m. The 2020 SEC Indoor Championships will conclude with the 4×400-meter relay at 6:55 p.m.

In the final tune-up before SEC’s, the Commodores celebrated senior day at the Music City Challenge, Feb. 14-15. In the final home meet for 10 Commodores, Vanderbilt earned a silver, bronze and produced three more all-time top 10 marks.

Vanderbilt has already made a visit to Gilliam Indoor Stadium where four individuals and one relay team earned medals for the Commodores at the Texas A&M Charlie Thomas Invitational. The Commodores also finished with six new marks among the school’s all-time top 10 lists and finished fifth among 14 teams with 62.5 points.

The NCAA Indoor Championships are set for March 13-14 in Albuquerque, N.M., and the Commodores will open the outdoor season at the Raleigh Relays and Florida State Relays, March 27-28.
