Coach Corbin Quote: Jay will be a back up catcher this year. He has had some nagging injuries that has slowed him up. He has pretty good defensive abilities and is a solid lefthanded hitter as well.

2006: Redshirted. Played in five games, including four starts for the Torrington Twisters of the New England Collegiate Baseball League. Hit .250 in limited duty.

High School: Was a first-team all state selection at Goodpasture High School … Was the team MVP in 2005 and also garned all midstate and all-district plaudits … Also named all-district in 2003 and 2004 … Helped lead school to state championship in 2004 … Team also won district four straight years, 2002-2005 … Recorded the most putouts in school history and had a state record 1.000 fielding percentage in 14 tourney games in three years … A four-year starter and letterer in baseball and a two-year starter and letterwinner as a punter in football … Earned all-region honors on the gridiron … Played football with Patrick Turner, a wide receiver now at Southern Cal … Played on the Bayside Yankees club team out of New York … hit .356 for them while going 56-12.
