PGA Tour Win Added to the List

Former Commodore wins first title, eight Vandy golfers headed to Jones Cup

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Former Vanderbilt standout Luke List had the biggest moment of his professional career Saturday.

In a playoff with Will Zalatoris, List birdied the par-5 18th to win the Farmers Insurance Open in San Diego, California. The 37-year-old claimed his first PGA Tour victory in his 206th start after being five shots back of the lead going into the final round.

List (BA’07) is the second Vanderbilt golfer to ever win on the PGA Tour joining nine-time champion Brandt Snedeker.

List won’t be a part of this week’s AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, but former Commodores Snedeker and Matthias Schwab will be.

Snedeker, a former champion at Pebble Beach in 2013 and 2015, recently finished tied for 14th at The American Express in La Quinta, California. Schwab has been competing on the European Tour and most recently played in the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship.

Meanwhile on the Korn Ferry Tour, John Augenstein, Will Gordon and Theo Humphrey have been busy with back-to-back tournaments in the Bahamas to start the season. Humphrey and Gordon both tied for 47th at the Great Abaco Classic while Gordon finished tied for 28th at the Great Exuma Classic.

The Korn Ferry Tour moves on this week with a stop at the Panama Championship in Panama which starts Thursday.

Jones Cup Starts Friday

Vanderbilt will be well-represented this weekend when eight Commodores tee off at the Jones Cup Invitational.

Reid Davenport, William Moll, Harrison Ott, Matthew Riedel, Gordon Sargent, Michael Shears, Cole Sherwood and Jackson Van Paris will all take part in the 18th annual event at the Ocean Forest Golf Club on Sea Island, Georgia. The three-day tournament begins at 8 a.m. CT Friday.

Vandy’s octet made the field by invitation and will be vying to become Vanderbilt’s second champion of the prestigious tournament – List won there in 2007.

Sargent, a freshman, finished tied for sixth in the event in 2021 while Davenport came in tied for 22nd and Moll tied for 28th. Moll also tied for 20th there in 2019.
