NASHVILLE, Tenn -- No. 1/1 Vanderbilt clinched the SEC regular season title in emphatic fashion on Friday night, thumping Texas, 5-0.
The Commodores (15-0-1, 8-0-1 SEC) scored four or more goals for the eighth time this season, with five different players finding the back of the net. They are one result away from the first undefeated regular season in program history.
The title marks the fourth of the Darren Ambrose era and the eighth in the program's four-decade history. They won the regular season in 2018 and the tournament title in 2020 and 2025.
Melania Fullerton opened the scoring in the 14th minute, and Lydia Ungashick doubled the advantage right before halftime on a set piece. Mia Hebert, Margo Matula and Sydney Watts added their name to the scoresheet in the second half, with the defense keeping their eighth shutout of the year.
The Dores will be the No. 1 seed in the SEC Tournament as they look to win both conference titles for the first time in 32 years. They will conclude the regular season at home against South Carolina on November 1 at 12 p.m.
