NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Vanderbilt men’s basketball will play in the first basketball game of the season when the Commodores meet Virginia in exhibition action at TheLinkU Invitational at Credit One Stadium in Charleston, South Carolina. Tipoff for Vanderbilt and Virginia is set for noon ET/11 a.m. CT Sunday on ESPN+.
Sunday’s exhibition will air on ESPN+ with Faxon Childress and Randolph Childress on the call. Vanderbilt fans can also listen to Kevin Ingram and Tim Thompson call the action on 102.5 The Game and the Vanderbilt Sports Network.
The matchup between the Dores and Cavaliers marks the earliest college basketball game of the year. It is the second-straight season Vandy and Virginia will meet in an exhibition after the Dores claimed a win in Memorial Gymnasium last season. The unique event marks a return of outdoor college hoops for the first time since 2022.
Vanderbilt returns first team All-SEC and honorable mention All-American guard Tyler Tanner along with Chandler Bing and Jayden Leverett. The Commodores added five veteran transfers in Bangot Dak, Berke Büyüktuncel, Ace Glass, T.O. Barrett and Sebastian Williams-Adams. Vandy also welcomed seven freshmen into the fold with its 10th-ranked recruiting class.
Fans attending the exhibition in Charleston can enjoy a full weekend of festivities beginning Friday night with an exclusive Chalk Talk featuring each of the six programs participating in TheLinkU Invitational. Tickets to the evening are $175 with the event featuring a cocktail hour, conversation with head coaches and select student-athletes and a meet and greet. Saturday evening features Nate Bargatze’s Big Dumb Eyes Goes to College in Credit One Stadium before Sunday’s tripleheader of hoops.
