NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Vanderbilt Volleyball earns its third consecutive sweep of the year after a 3-0 win (25-18, 25-15, 25-19) over Maryland Tuesday night at Memorial Gymnasium. The team finished the match with 43 kills and a .345 hitting percentage.
Avery Scoggins distributed the ball well across the roster, allowing the trio of Reese Animashaun, Rachel Ogunleye and Samantha Wunsch to earn 10 kills each. Ogunleye and Wunsch both tabbed hitting numbers above .470.
Carly Hendrickson contributed back-to-back aces, while Animashaun also earned two behind the service line to add to the team’s eight.
Defensively, Hailee Mack notched 11 digs, while Wunsch added six. In the front row, the team earned eight total blocks, five of them being from Kayla Dunlap. The Commodores limited Maryland to hitting numbers of .143.
The Commodores maintained control throughout the match, taking each set by at least six points and closing out Maryland in three sets. Vanderbilt’s balanced offensive attack and strong defensive presence helped the team secure its third consecutive sweep of the season.
Vanderbilt will battle Rutgers on the final day of the Big Ten–SEC Challenge at Memorial Gym at 7 p.m. following the neutral matchup between Arkansas and Maryland.
