STARKVILLE, Miss. — The opening day of the Starkvegas Showdown saw the Vanderbilt men's tennis team generate three wins in singles and doubles against Alabama opponents.

Vandy started Friday strong in doubles with a 6-3 win from senior Danil Panarin and sophomore Jack Satterfield over the Crimson Tide's Yoshka Sborowsky and Rohan Hazratwala. Panarin then led the way in singles at Court 1 with another victory over Sborowsky in straight sets. Sophomore Donghyun Hwang added the final match win of the day for the black and gold, downing Aleksander Blus 6-4, 1-6, 6-4 at Court 2.

The Dores continue play against host Mississippi State today. Live stats are available online. Senior Hugo Coquelin is also competing for the black and gold today; he is set to face UCLA's Nav Dayal to open singles prequalifying at the ITA All-American Championships.
