TULSA, Okla. — Senior Hugo Coquelin secured a spot in the second round of prequalifying singles at the ITA All-American Championships after a straight-set victory, 6-3, 6-3, over UCLA's Nav Dayal.
Coquelin was the lone Commodore to take the court on Saturday. Junior Pablo Martinez Gomez and sophomore Hoyoung Roh are also set to play at All-Americans, but will begin their run in the opening round of the qualifying draw on Monday.
The win was Coquelin's first since March 8, ending a four-match skid from the 2025-26 season. It was also Coquelin's first career victory in singles play at the All-American Championships; he generated five doubles wins in his only other appearance at the event in 2024.

STARKVILLE, Miss. — Vanderbilt men's tennis picked up another singles win courtesy of sophomore Donghyun Hwang as the Commodores faced host Mississippi State in Day 2 of the Starkvegas Showdown on Saturday.
Competing at Court 2, Hwang moved to 2-0 so far this fall after a 6-0, 6-2 takedown of the Bulldogs' Segundo Goity Zapico. His match was the only one the black and gold claimed an advantage in, suffering losses at Courts 1 and 3.
Vanderbilt split the two doubles matches with Mississippi State. The duo of sophomore Jack Satterfield and freshman Roshan Santhosh clinched a 7-6 (5) tiebreaker over Jacopo Borsoi and Luigi Valletta, marking the first career collegiate victory for Santhosh.
Sunday marks the final day of competition for the Dores at the Starkvegas Showdown; Vandy goes up against Auburn, with play to begin at 10 a.m. Live stats will be available online.
