NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Commodores advance to 8-0 in the 2026 season after a 3-1 win (20-25, 25-21, 25-21, 25-17) against Belmont at the Curb Event Center. Reese Animashaun and Maya Witherspoon both hit over .460 whikle Maddy Bowser hit .500 to help the team to an overall .333 percentage
Animashaun led the charge for the team’s 66 kills with 23 of her own, while Witherspoon notched 19 kills. Samantha Wunsch added 10 of her own, while joining Animashaun to add 12 digs each. Bowser and Ariel Chime both posted career highs with eight and four kills, respectively.
Defensively, Hailee Mack earned 16 digs to add to the team’s 59. Bowser had a hand in all three of the team’s blocks against the Bruins to hold them to a .258 hitting percentage. Avery Scoggins and Madi Victoriano both contributed to the direction of the Commodore offense with 44 and 12 assists, respectively.
The Bruins hit a strong .394 in the opening set to win 25-20. The Commodores fought back in the final three sets, earning the win after hitting two of the three sets over .470 to take control of the match and force Belmont to a 3-7 overall record.
The Dores have a quick turnaround, facing Lipscomb Friday evening at Memorial Gymnasium for a 7 p.m. first serve.
